MENA Ophthalmology Congress opens in Bahrain.

Manama, Mar. 4 (BNA): The 13th edition of the Ophthalmology Congress for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) got underway today in Bahrain. His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa delegated Deputy Premier Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa to open the conference, being held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC).

The five-day congress which will conclude on May 8 has attracted up to 2000 ophthalmologists and experts from all over the world. Deputy Premier Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa conveyed to the organizers and participants greetings from HRH the Premier, who wished them every success to keep abreast of latest ophthalmological trends.

The Deputy Premier hailed the landmark strides of the health and medical sector in Bahrain, commending the support of the HRH the Premier and the Government which played a crucial role in developing quality therapeutic services in the Kingdom.

He stressed the importance of upgrading the medical sector to bolster Bahrain's ability to attract investments and turn into a prized destination for therapeutic tourism in Bahrain. The Deputy Premier underlined the crucial importance of holding such high-profile specialised medical conferences, in line with the Government's drive to develop the health sector to ensure world-standard services.

He took pride in choosing Bahrain to hold the 13th edition of the Ophthalmology Congress for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), being one of the biggest medical platforms in the world. Health Minister Faeqa bin Said Al-Saleh addressed the opening ceremony, welcoming Deputy Premier and Vice Congress Patron Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa.

She welcomed Middle East-Africa Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO)'s Board of Directors Chairman and member of the Board of Trustees of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and all the participants. She also extended deepest thanks to HRH the Premier for putting the 13th edition of the Ophthalmology Congress for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) under his auspices
