MEDecision Enters Agreement With Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care.

QIO Will Implement MEDecision's Alineo and Nexalign Solutions to Manage 750,000 Members

WAYNE, Pa. -- MEDecision, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative health care management solutions, today announced that it will deliver its Alineo([R]) collaborative health care management platform and Nexalign([R]) collaborative health care information exchange service to the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC). The deal continues MEDecision's momentum and leadership position in providing technical solutions to support the evolving needs of the reform-driven health care market.

AFMC will deploy Alineo and Nexalign to manage care for its 750,000 Medicaid beneficiaries in Arkansas and Alabama. The solutions will enable the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) to increase operational efficiencies and improve customer service while providing optimal scalability to meet evolving long-term needs. AFMC plans to begin implementing Alineo and Nexalign during the first half of 2010.

"We welcome partnerships with organizations like AFMC that share our belief in the power of technology to improve health care," said Scott A. Storrer, president and CEO at MEDecision. "We're very confident that Alineo and Nexalign will enable AFMC to meet its goals of streamlining efficiencies and ensuring the best possible care for its beneficiaries."

Alineo allows health plans to optimize automation and efficiency in the delivery of care management programs while fostering a more member-centric, whole-person approach. It is designed to help maximize the effectiveness of case, disease, population, and utilization management initiatives by simplifying integration with other internal and external medical management systems. As such, Alineo provides health plans with a powerful, yet simplified resource that can support business growth by streamlining operations, controlling medical and administrative costs, and strengthening business processes while improving the overall quality of care.

Nexalign is a collaborative health care information exchange service. It provides a robust way for health care payers, patients, physicians and other care providers to securely access and exchange health information to foster better clinical decisions. Nexalign's multichannel, interoperable design enables two-way information exchange among multiple sources, which is intended to provide richer, more accurate and complete information at the point of care. This produces better health outcomes across a broad population, while reducing costs.

"Alineo and Nexalign are progressive technologies that should optimally support and exceed our needs as a QIO," said Nick Paslidis, M.D., CEO for AFMC. "They will give us the scalability and adaptability we need to meet our business objectives and, more importantly, to ensure optimal care management as the market grows and changes in the long term."
