MEDTRONIC PROMOTES TWO ATTORNEYS TO SENIOR POSITIONS ON LEGAL STAFF

 MINNEAPOLIS, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) has announced the promotions of two members of its legal staff. Michael D. Ellwein has been appointed Vice President and Associate General Counsel. Marcea Staten has been named Vice President and Assistant General Counsel.
 Ellwein, 53, formerly Vice President Corporate Development and Assistant General Counsel, joined Medtronic in 1990 after serving as Senior Vice President, The Coleman Company, and as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, The Pillsbury Company. He is a graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and the University of Iowa College of Law.
 Staten, 44, has been a member of the Medtronic legal staff since 1978 and had been Assistant General Counsel for Business Unit Services since 1991. She is a graduate of Knox College and the Northwestern University College of Law.
