MEDTRONIC NAMES PETER A. CHEVALIER VICE PRESIDENT, REGULATORY AFFAIRS
 MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) announced today that Peter A. Chevalier has been appointed vice president, regulatory affairs. Chevalier, now director of research and development for the Medtronic heart valves business, will assume his new duties Jan. 1, 1992.
 Chevalier, 51, will coordinate Medtronic's regulatory practices and operational relationships with agencies that regulate the medical device industry worldwide. He will report to William E. Hogan II, vice president, corporate operations and quality.
 Chevalier joined Medtronic in 1981 as director of clinical evaluation for the pacing business. He had earlier served as associate director of the division of lung diseases, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md., and on the faculties of the Mayo Medical School, Rochester, Minn., and the University of Delaware, Newark, Del.
 He holds undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the University of Minnesota.
