 MEDTRONIC ASSIGNS SELZER TO HEAD TWO DIVISIONS
 IN MOVE FOR CLOSE COORDINATION
 MINNEAPOLIS, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) announced today that Michael M. Selzer had been appointed general manager of its Promeon Division in Minneapolis in addition to his current responsibility as vice president and general manager of the Micro-Rel Division in Tempe, Ariz.
 Bob Griffin, president of Medtronic's Pacing Business, noted that, "Further enhancement of Medtronic products and their quality necessitates close coordination of our component manufacturing organizations. Mike Selzer and his teams at Micro-Rel and Promeon will move them toward that objective."
 Mechanical components and batteries for Medtronic's implantable medical devices are developed and manufactured at Promeon. Micro-Rel designs and produces microcircuitry for Medtronic devices.
 Selzer, 39, joined Medtronic from Motorola, Inc., in 1975. He held various positions in engineering and engineering management before becoming vice president and general manager of Micro-Rel in 1987.
 He will relocate to Minneapolis and assume his new duties on Aug. 1, 1992.
