 MEDTAKE(TM) MOVES FORWARD
 DEERFIELD, Ill., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Baxter Healthcare Corp.'s

(NYSE: BAX) I.V. Systems Division announced today that it has completed a preferred vendor agreement for its MedTake(TM) bedside system with HCA Information Services Inc., a division of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).
Under this agreement, MedTake is now available to all hospitals serviced by HCA's Information Services, Inc. The group services 256 institutions, including HCA-affiliated facilities, those in HealthTrust, Inc. and Quorum networks.
The MedTake system was initially installed as a pilot for HCA Information Services at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, Va. The pilot began last December in Johnston Willis' 36-bed Med/Surg unit, and ran for five months. The MedTake system is interfaced with both HCA's ADT system and order-entry system for reporting of lab, radiology, and cardiology results. In addition, MedTake's medication application has a two-way interface to the hospital's pharmacy system.
MedTakes' Integration capabilities were a critical factor in HCA's decision to choose MedTake and implement bedside technology. Additional criteria satisfied by MedTake were: an established and satisfied client base, and product applications for the entire hospital including ICU.
As a result of HCA's decision to proceed, two other hospitals serviced by HCA Information Services have signed contracts to install MedTake. The hospitals will go live in August.
The MedTake system is distributed exclusively by Baxter for MICRO Healthsystems, West Orange, N.J. The system has been installed in 35 hospitals, making it the most widely used bedside system.
