MEDQUIST NAMES WEITZEL CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

 GIBBSBORO, N.J., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- MedQuist Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDQ) announced today several key management appointments.
 Paul E. Weitzel Jr. has been appointed to the position of senior vice president and chief operating officer. Previously he served as chief financial officer and vice president of corporate development. In his new position, Weitzel will be responsible for the company's receivables management and consulting division operations, reporting to Richard J. Censits, MedQuist chairman, president and chief executive officer.
 Prior to joining MedQuist in March 1992, Weitzel was president and chief executive officer of SePro Healthcare, Inc., the former U.S. subsidiary of Seton Healthcare Group, p.l.c., England.
 Other senior corporate management appointments included the promotion of Robert F. Graham to the position of vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer, and Hubert U. King to the newly created post of vice president, technology and development. King will spearhead the company's efforts to develop new products and services and improve divisional operating systems.
 Graham joined MedQuist in June 1992 as corporate controller and chief accounting officer. Previously, he was a manager with Deloitte & Touche, specializing in the hospital and health care industry.
 King was founder of the consulting firm acquired by MedQuist on Jan. 1, 1992. He has served as corporate vice president and president of MedQuist's national consulting division. King has extensive health care industry management experience. Prior to founding his own company in 1986, he was chief financial officer at Methodist Health System, a multi-hospital, multi-provider system in Jacksonville, Fla. He began his career in health care as a consultant with Ernst & Young.
 Replacing King as division president is Richard A. Garrison. Garrison has been with MedQuist since 1987, serving in various key management positions.
 MedQuist provides business and information services to the health care industry. Its receivables management service operations are located in Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey, Ohio and Texas. In addition to its receivables management activities, MedQuist provides revenue and cost management consulting services to health care providers nationwide. The consulting division is based in Florida.
