MEDQUIST ADDS BUSINESS SERVICES

 GIBBSBORO, N.J., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- MedQuist Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDQ) announced today the recent acquisition of Management Partners, Inc. (MPI), a privately held Pennsylvania firm specializing in medical records consulting, coding, abstracting and staffing support.
 According to Richard J. Censits, MedQuist's chairman, president and chief executive officer, the addition of MPI's strength in medical records management expands the company's capabilities to assist clients in achieving optimum reimbursement through accurate coding for both inpatient and outpatient services.
 Joining MedQuist as divisional vice presidents are Arthur H. Piper Jr., and Mark S. Levitan, MPI principals. In addition, senior MPI managers Barbara J. Kane, RRA, and Jo-Anne M. Dorsey, RN, BS, will also join MedQuist.
 Piper has over 25 years experience in health care financial management. Prior to forming MPI in 1988, he served as chief financial officer for The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for 12 years. A certified public accountant, he was previously with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. Piper has served on the faculties of the Leonard Davis Institute of The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; Temple University; and Widener University.
 Levitan's extensive background in the health care industry includes senior management positions in private industry as well as health care organizations. Prior to joining MPI, he served as chief operating officer of MEDIQ Incorporated. He is also a former president and chief operating officer of Shared Medical Systems.
 An experienced hospital executive, Levitan served as president and chief executive officer of the Albert Einstein Health Care Foundation and the Philadelphia Psychiatric Center. He was executive director of The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for over eight years.
 Levitan is a senior fellow on the faculty of the health care program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is also a senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute and serves as a member of the institute's national advisory board.
 Kane, a registered records administrator, is responsible for MPI's medical records coding, case mix consulting and technical staff training engagements.
 Dorsey, a senior MPI consultant, is responsible for all phases of the firm's temporary staffing practice.
 MedQuist provides business and information services to health care providers nationwide. Since 1992, the company has focused on developing a national organization designed to help hospitals and medical practice groups improve their administrative efficiencies by outsourcing selective cost and revenue activities.
 MedQuist currently provides receivables management services from locations in Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey, Ohio and Texas. The consulting division, based in Florida, provides cost and revenue services, specializing in managed care, surgical departments, and coding and medical records.
