MEDPHONE AND IDB PACT TO OFFER NEW LIFESAVING SERVICE VIA SATELLITE
 Interactive Medical Assistance and Treatment
 Will help Cardiac Arrest Victims
NEW YORK, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- MEDphone Corp. (AMEX: MPO.EC) and IDB Mobile Communications, a joint venture of IDB Communications Group Inc. (NASDAQ: IDBX) and Teleglobe International (U.S.) Inc., announced a new alliance that will offer a lifesaving service which delivers emergency medical assistance and treatment for cardiac arrest victims worldwide -- wherever satellite communication is available on ships, drilling rigs and other remote locations.
Utilizing IDB's link with the International Maritime System (INMARSAT) and MEDphone's patented products, physicians can remotely interact on site in an emergency -- to monitor and provide two-way communication. In the case of cardiac arrest, the physician can rapidly jump-start the victim's heart. MEDphone's services are also available via cellular and conventional telephone hook-up.
 S. Eric Wachtel, president of MEDphone, commented, "Our breakthrough technology combined with IDB's satellite facilities network and expertise forms the basis of our new marketing alliance. It is part of our strategic plan to widen our access to the multibillion dollar telecommunication and health care markets." Wachtel continued, "We will work aggressively to translate our access to expanded global markets into maximum shareholder value."
Marc Newman, vice president of Business Development for IDB Mobile, commented, "Used in conjunction with the MDphone Satellite Air and MDphone Marine Rescue units, IDB's global satellite network will help to provide emergency medical advice and treatment to virtually all corners of the globe. This is historic -- now cruise passengers, offshore drilling and commercial shipping crew members, as well as people located in remote locations on land can be assured of safe, rapid medical assistance. It's like having immediate access to a hospital emergency room when seconds count."
IDB Mobile Communications, based in Rockville, Md., markets maritime and land-mobile satellite communications services to users including commercial shipping fleets, fishing vessels, pleasure cruises, oil rigs and tankers and remote land operations. IDB Communications Group Inc. is a leading supplier of transmission services for radio, television, data and voice communications via satellite and fiber optics.
