MEDIMMUNE RECEIVES APPROVAL TO SELL CYTOGAM IN TURKEY

 GAITHERSBURG, Md., Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- MedImmune, Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDI) today announced that the Minister of Health of Turkey has granted marketing approval of CytoGam(R) in Turkey for the prevention of cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease associated with kidney transplants. MedImmune will distribute CytoGam in Turkey exclusively through Biocer Ltd., a Turkish pharmaceutical distributor.
 "Receipt of marketing approval in Turkey is evidence of our ongoing program to increase the market opportunity for CytoGam worldwide," said Wayne T. Hockmeyer, Ph.D., chairman and chief executive officer of MedImmune. "An initial order has already been shipped, demonstrating the need for and acceptance of this product."
 CytoGam is a polyclonal antibody product for prevention of primary cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease associated with kidney transplantation. CytoGam was launched in the United States in November 1991 and is currently awaiting regulatory approval to begin marketing in Canada, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Romania and Saudi Arabia. An amendment to the PLA was filed in the United States in June 1992 seeking an indication for use in all solid organs.
 Biocer Ltd. markets and distributes pharmaceutical and medical products throughout Turkey. Biocer also operates a chain of 35 pharmacies in which CytoGam will be available.
 MedImmune, Inc. was formed in 1988 to develop, manufacture and market therapeutics and vaccines for the treatment and prevention of certain infectious diseases and cancers. MedImmune's corporate headquarters are in Gaithersburg.
