MEDICAL GRAPHICS CORPORATION INTRODUCES NEW PRODUCT:
Combined Exercise Testing System Integrates ECG and VO2 Data
ST. PAUL, Minn., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MGCC) today introduced the first combined exercise testing system, the MedGraphics CardiO2, at the American College of Cardiology's 41st Annual Scientific Session in Dallas, Texas.
The CardiO2 integrates simultaneous, real-time 12-lead ECG and directly measured VO2 (oxygen uptake) data in a single system, on a single screen.
"For the first time, physicians have one system to directly and accurately quantify the functional capacity of patients," said Catherine A. Anderson, Chairman, President & CEO.
"With the CardiO2, if a patient has a circulatory problem, the physician can pinpoint where it lies -- the heart, lungs or blood vessels -- and identify cardiovascular conditions that won't show up on an ECG alone," said Anderson. "In the same time as a standard ECG stress test, CardiO2 gives physicians unprecedented diagnostic and prognostic capabilities."
This circulatory diagnostic system enables physicians to effectively screen for coronary artery disease, differentially diagnose cardiopulmonary disease, generate exercise prescriptions for cardiac rehabilitation, and monitor the effects of cardiovascular interventions.
The MedGraphics lightweight, patented disposable mouthpiece (pneumotach) is featured on the CardiO2. Designed for infection control, accuracy and patient comfort, the mouthpiece quickly snaps on and off. The headgear, hoses and valves conventionally associated with cardiopulmonary exercise testing are eliminated.
Medical Graphics Corporation develops computerized non-invasive cardiorespiratory diagnostic and monitoring systems for the early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and lung disease. With headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Dusseldorf, Germany, Medical Graphics does business in 30 countries.
