MEDIA ADVISORY FROM ASHLAND OIL, INC. A news conference will be held Tuesday, May 5, at 11 a.m., at the
Learning Center of Upper Arlington High School, 1650 Ridgeview Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio, to announce the state's 10 winning teachers in the Ashland Oil Teacher Achievement Awards program.
In addition to the introduction of the winning teachers, Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Ted Sanders; Ashland Oil Senior Vice President Fred Brothers; and Marilyn Cross, president of the Ohio Education Association will make remarks. Also representing the company will be Joe Welsh, vice president of human relations for Ashland Chemical, Inc., a subsidiary of Ashland Oil based in Dublin. Interviews with company officials and the teachers can be arranged immediately following the announcement. The Teacher Achievement Awards program is a part of the efforts by Ashland Oil, Inc. (NYSE: ASH) to promote quality education in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Minnesota. Through a nomination, application and selection process, the company recognizes 10 winning teachers in each state. Each teacher will receive a cash award of $2,500. Reporters should review the following list of winning teachers' school locations to note whether one or more winners resides in the local media's circulation or broadcast area: Hamilton, Mentor, Garfield Heights, Peebles, Westlake, Ironton, Columbus, Copley, Cincinnati and Goshen.
