 MEDCENTERS IS MAJOR PARTICIPANT IN GROUP HEALTH INSTITUTE '92
 MINNEAPOLIS, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- MedCenters Health Plan, a local and traditionally low-profile HMO, has been selected by the Group Health Association of America, Inc. (GHAA) to be a major participant in its upcoming Group Health Institute convention. Numerous MedCenters representatives have been chosen to conduct discussions on a variety of health related issues among Group Health Institute's forum of nationwide health care leaders.
 "Being asked to participate in Group Health Institute '92 at such a high level is both an honor and a great opportunity for MedCenters," said Kirby Erickson, executive director for MedCenters Health Plan. "It provides the forum for MedCenters to highlight its innovative new technologies and showcase its leading edge prevention programs."
 GHAA is the nation's oldest and largest trade association for health maintenance and a leader of organized educational programs for the HMO industry. It will sponsor the 42nd annual Group Health Institute (GHI '92) to be held in Minneapolis.
 The 1992 Group Health Institute begins Sunday, June 7 and runs through Wednesday, June 10 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Scheduled conference sessions that feature MedCenters representatives include:
 -- Monday, June 8, Kirby Erickson, executive director, universal access proposals at the state and federal levels
 -- Monday, June 8, David Knutson, program planning & development manager, financial results of point-of-service offerings
 -- Monday, June 8, Linda C. Davis, product development/product management manager, self-funded managed care programs in financial arrangements
 -- Wednesday, June 10, David Griffin, M.D., associate medical director and George Isham, M.D., medical director, initiatives in pre- natal care and infant mortality reduction
 More than 2,500 people are expected to attend the conference that will offer more than 50 sessions filled with timely and strategic information for individuals representing the health care field.
 MedCenters, founded in 1972, is the third largest health maintenance organization in Minnesota with more than 265,000 members. MedCenters is managed by Aetna Health Plans, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aetna Life Insurance Company.
