RICHMOND, BC, Oct. 21 /CNW-PRN/ - MDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc. (MDSI) of Richmond, British Columbia (Nasdaq: MDSIF; TSE, ME: MMD), a leader in field force automation and wireless connectivity solutions, announced today that it will participate in the upcoming Microsoft Windows CE Enterprise Road Show by demonstrating its Advantex(TM) wireless field force automation solution.

The objective of this industry event is to educate customers on current opportunities to roll out Windows CE with existing solutions as well as outline the potential for future applications. MDSI(TM) and other leading technology providers will highlight the benefits of Microsoft's operating system by demonstrating existing Windows CE applications and showcasing compatible hardware devices.

``MDSI's expertise in developing wireless, mobile applications for field workforces worldwide is a wonderful fit with Windows CE, an operating system designed for mobility and instant access to your information,'' said Randy Granovetter, Business Development Manager, Wireless Communications, Microsoft Corp. ``Microsoft is very pleased to have MDSI demonstrating its Windows CE-based solutions in the Windows CE Enterprise Road Show.''

In an exhibit format, MDSI will demonstrate its Advantex field force automation solution with its Windows CE-based mobile application operating live over the nationwide BellSouth Intelligent Wireless Network(SM). With customers in major utility, telecommunications, cable, field service, taxi, courier and public safety organizations and successful implementations across five continents, MDSI's Advantex field force automation solutions have gained widespread market acceptance. The Windows CE version of the application will ``open the door to the wireless world'' for companies previously inhibited by significant hardware costs associated with implementation. This lower cost alternative will also allow companies to expand the scope of their solutions to wirelessly enable a greater percentage of the enterprise.

MDSI's Chairman & CEO Erik Dysthe describes MDSI's commitment to Windows CE applications: ``MDSI is proud to contribute to the Windows CE Enterprise Road Show. Specializing in wireless applications for field workforces in a number of industries, MDSI recognizes customer requirements to drive down implementation costs and provide standard, cost-effective wireless solutions that are feasible when rolling out 10 or 10,000 field workers. The further development and acceptance of Windows CE will help us provide our customers with that flexibility.''
