MDOT AND MAA TO HOST AEROSPACE WORKSHOP MARCH 14
The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Maryland

Aviation Administration (MAA) will co-host an Aerospace Education Workshop at Baltimore/Washington International Airport on Saturday, March 14.
The daylong workshop begins at 8:30 a.m., with sessions being held at both the BWI passenger terminal and the MDOT headquarters building. The workshop concept was developed by Barbara Walters, founder of Aviation Invasion of Hagerstown.
More than 150 teachers from throughout Maryland and the region will be attending hands-on sessions presented by top representatives in the aviation and space industry, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Topics range from space physiology and aerial navigation to building hot air balloons. The purpose of the workshop will be to present teachers with learning activities suitable for the classroom, as well as to make them more knowledgeable about resources from the industry.
At 12:30 p.m., luncheon speaker for the day will be Adm. Thomas K. Mattingly, former astronaut. The workshop will conclude with a 4 p.m. "launch" of the classroom projects in the MDOT Headquarters building. Media are invited to attend any of the day's activities.
