MCS division issues practice aids.

The AICPA management consulting services division has issued two new practice aids.

Voluntary Health and Welfare Organizations (product no. 055142JA) describes the industry, discusses the trends and critical operating issues that a CPA practitioner may encounter in a consulting services engagement and identifies consulting service opportunities. It includes a list of selected sources of industry information and a bibliography.

Managing Consulting Services: A Focus on Profitability (product no. 055144JA) describes the management processes, decisions and controls that are needed if a CPA firm is to profit from consulting service activities. It suggests ways to achieve goals and monitor profits, including techniques for managing and measuring performance. It also discusses the management challenges and opportunities for increasing revenue and controlling the cost of consulting products.

A copy of each practice aid has been sent to management consulting division members. Copies are available to nonmembers of the MCS division for $13 each by calling the AICPA order department at 1-800-TO-AICPA.
