MCI WorldCom Communications, Inc., McLean, Va., is being awarded a firm-fixed-price, indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity contract for the Defense Research Engineering Network (DREN). The contract is a follow-on contract to the DREN Intersite Services Contract (DISC) and will provide state-of-the-art wide-area network (WAN) services to support the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP), and DoD users in various technical communities. The minimum guarantee of the contract is $6 million. An estimated $70 million in orders will be issued during the three-year base period of this contract, with a $450 million ceiling price over the ten-year period. The requirement was solicited for full and open competition, and five offers were received. Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., is the contracting activity. (DCA200-02-D-5003).
