 MCI TO PURCHASE REMAINING INTEREST IN MCI SERVICES;
 MOVE WILL INTEGRATE MCI CONSUMER SALES & SERVICE OPERATIONS
 WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- MCI Communications Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: MCIC) today announced that it intends to purchase the remaining 49 percent of MCI Services Marketing Inc. MCI Services, a consumer sales and service unit of the company, was created in June 1991 as a joint venture with Long Lines, Ltd., an Iowa-based telecommunications concern.
 Pending governmental approval, MCI will own 100 percent of MCI Services and will integrate its 14 service and marketing locations in the United States into its Consumer Markets unit. These locations are: Atlanta; Boston; Phoenix; Memphis, Tenn.; Austin, Texas; Albuquerque, N.M.; Towson, Md.; Greeley and Colorado Springs, Colo.; Springfield, Mo.; Wichita, Kan.; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
 "Today's announcement is a natural extension of our efforts two years ago to create a national consumer sales and service organization," said Daniel F. Akerson, president and chief operating officer of MCI. "Our long-term strategy has been to continue to provide the resources needed to service MCI's growing consumer base."
 Gerald H. Taylor, president of MCI Consumer Markets, the residential services division of the company which offers MCI's Friends & Family, will continue as president of the new organization.
 MCI Communications Corporation, the nation's second largest long distance provider, supplies a full range of voice and data telecommunications services to business and residential customers and government agencies.
