MCI OFFERS SERVICE IN WAKE OF SPRINT OUTAGE

MCI OFFERS SERVICE IN WAKE OF SPRINT OUTAGE
WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Families and businesses in

the Carolinas, Georgia and northern Florida affected by Sprint's service outage can dial a special MCI access code, 10222, and automatically complete calls through MCI's network, the company announced today.
MCI is advising customers in the affected areas to use the 10222 access code in order to avoid higher AT&T rates when placing calls during the outage. For example, with AT&T's basic Dial "1" rates, a 10-minute call from
Charlotte, N.C., to Richmond, Va., would cost $1.30. With MCI's basic Dial "1" rates, the same call would cost $1.17, or 10 percent less than AT&T.
To complete a call using the MCI access code, a customer simply dials 10222, followed by the phone number they are calling. Non-MCI customers will be billed at MCI's regular low basic Dial "1" rates on their next monthly long distance bill from their local telephone company.
MCI recommends using the 10222 access code during outages to reach
locations worldwide. Consumers who want more information or assistance in placing calls can call MCI toll-free, 800-444-3333.
