MCI LOWERS RATES FOR EVENING AND WEEKEND CALLERS

MCI LOWERS RATES FOR EVENING AND WEEKEND CALLERS
 WASHINGTON, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- MCI Communications

Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: MCIC) announced today rate changes to two services that will benefit evening and weekend callers. MCI is reducing its additional minute rate for MCI's PrimeTime calling plan and MCI's Dial "1" rates during evening and night/weekend rate periods.
MCI PrimeTime, a residential savings plan for evening and weekend calls, is reducing its additional minute rate to 10.5 cents per minute. This reduction will enable customers to make calls after 5 p.m. weekdays, and weekends until 5 p.m. Sunday for only 10.5 cents per minute or as low as 0.084 cents per minute with MCI Friends & Family when calling other MCI customers.
MCI's Dial "1" rates during the evening and night/weekend periods are being reduced by an average of 0.7 percent while MCI's overall Dial "1" average rates are increasing slightly by 0.1 percent. With MCI's Dial "1" rates, customers may save up to 13 percent against AT&T's basic services, and up to 33 percent with Friends & Family. MCI Dial "1" customers continue to save on every call against AT&T's basic service.
"With MCI's new rates, all Dial '1' Friends & Family calls placed within the continental U.S. during the night/weekend rate periods will cost the customer no more than 10 cents per minute," said Timothy F. Price, senior vice president, MCI Consumer and Commercial Markets. "MCI continues to be a leader in the long distance industry by offering MCI customers the lowest prices."
MCI Communications Corporation, headquartered in Washington, is the nation's second largest long distance provider. MCI Consumer and Commercial Markets offers residential and small business customers a variety of products and services including: Dial "1," MCI PrimeTime, Personal 800, MCI Messenger, Operator Services, the MCI Card, MCI Around the World, Friends of the Firm, MCI Preferred and Prism Plus.
