MCI EXPANDS MCI INTERNATIONAL 64 SERVICE TO ADDITIONAL COUNTRIES

WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- MCI Communications Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: MCIC) today announced availability of MCI International 64 service from the United States to five new countries: Belgium, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Australia and Switzerland. The service has been provided from the United States to Canada, Japan and the United Kingdom since its introduction in September.
MCI International 64 enables businesses to use high-speed switched digital connections for cost-effective international communications services, such as videoconferencing, imaging, high- speed facsimile and data transfer.
The expanded service, announced here at the COMNET '93 trade show, provides increased savings and convenience for companies with international communications requirements. It enables customers to use a single, high-speed digital link on-demand for multiple applications, eliminating the need for separate access connections.
"With our expanded service, business customers can now reach more locations than ever before and use a cost-effective alternative to private lines for a full range of high-speed communications applications," said K. Paul Singh, MCI's vice president for global product marketing.
"MCI International 64 represents another step toward global virtual data services becoming a reality," said Singh.
MCI International 64 is offered with integrated services digital network (ISDN) access capability, which allows multiple applications to be performed simultaneously over a single connection.
MCI International 64 complements MCI's global communications services, which includes MCI Fiberline and Skyline worldwide service from 9.6 Kpbs, to 2.048 Mbps., cross-border services to Canada, Mexico and Alaska, international VSAT services, and turn-key global network services.
MCI Communications Corporation, headquartered in Washington, offers a full range of domestic and global telecommunications services through one of the world's largest state-of-the-art networks. The company, with 1992 revenue of more than $10 billion, is the second largest long distance provider in the United States and has more than 60 overseas offices in 55 countries.
