MCI ASSURES BUSINESSES OF BEST CALLING WITH INTRODUCTION OF 'PROOF POSITIVE FROM MCI'

 ATLANTA, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- MCI today revolutionized business long distance with the announcement of "Proof Positive From MCI"(sm), a new way of doing business that documents savings and helps companies manage their telecommunications expenses.
 In unveiling "Proof Positive," MCI noted that AT&T business customers are squandering millions of dollars every year in unnecessary long distance expenditures.
 Based on a market research study conducted by The Gallup Organization to determine calling programs used by AT&T customers, MCI has estimated that 82 percent of AT&T small- and medium-size business customers are on long distance calling plans that result in higher-than- necessary charges, thereby wasting around $200 million in long distance expenditures.
 "AT&T's license to overcharge their customers has expired," stated Timothy F. Price, president of MCI Business Services. "MCI business customers now will see written proof of the savings to which they are accustomed. Now the heat is on AT&T to do the same for their customers."
 "Proof Positive From MCI" delivers three proofs in writing every 90 days to business customers:
 -- MCI saves business customers money and demonstrates these savings
 with comparisons to AT&T's most widely used calling plans.
 -- Customers always get MCI's best price. If a business customer
 would have paid less using any other MCI calling plan, MCI
 automatically credits the difference.
 -- MCI always does what is right for customers' businesses. As
 new products are developed and customers' long distance needs
 change, MCI will suggest actions businesses can take to further
 reduce their bills.
 A television advertising campaign, created by Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/New York, began airing last night to tease the new service, scheduled to be available July 4.
 "AT&T's constant barrage of product claims and calling plans has left American businesses confused and skeptical," Price said. "'Proof Positive From MCI' puts an end to the confusion by providing, in writing, proof that customers have made the best decision for their businesses."
 MCI business customers will receive quarterly statements that provide an analysis of their actual calling patterns, compared with AT&T tariffs for the most widely used plans. The statement, independently audited by a Big Six accounting firm, will document how much business customers saved with MCI during the period. The statements will also provide recommendations on other ways business customers can save even more money and maximize their long distance services.
 "'Proof Positive From MCI' will do for American business what Friends and Family did for residential long distance," Price said. "And just as with Friends and Family, we're convinced AT&T does not have the technological flexibility to duplicate this service."
