MCI ANNOUNCES INDUSTRY FIRSTS IN ENHANCED 800 SERVICE GUARANTEES

WASHINGTON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In industry firsts, MCI today announced two significant enhancements to its "no fault" 800 Guardian guarantee.
Under its new program, MCI 800 Guardian will provide backup service for an 800 number within one minute if the customer's 800 service is disrupted. Additionally, MCI 800 Guardian now guarantees backup service for up to 250 different 800 numbers within five minutes. The terminating locations and routing plans can be different for each 800 number, providing greater flexibility for customers with numerous 800 numbers.
"MCI has created a new level of responsiveness in 800 service guarantees," said Nancy Gofus, vice president of product marketing for MCI National Accounts. "We have redefined the standard of excellence for customers for whom 800 reliability is critical."
When customers call and notify MCI of their service disruption, their service will be immediately directed to a predefined customer- specified location via their alternate routing plan.
Pending tariff effectiveness by the FCC, both guarantees include international calling and are provided regardless of the source of the service disruption or the customer will receive credit for one month's service fee.
MCI offers a full range of domestic and global telecommunications services through one of the world's largest state-of-the-art networks. With 1992 revenue of more than $10 billion, the company is the second largest long distance provider in the United States and has more than 60 offices in 55 countries and places worldwide.
