MCGRAW-HILL NAMES MICHAEL V. NEEDHAM PRESIDENT OF COLLEGE DIVISION

 NEW YORK, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- McGraw-Hill, Inc. (NYSE: MHP) today named Michael V. Needham president of the company's College Division, one of the oldest and largest providers of materials to the education market.
 Mr. Needham has been senior vice president and general manager of the South-Western Publishing Company's College Division since 1989.
 Mr. Needham began his publishing career in 1969 as a sales representative for the Wadsworth Publishing Co. He was promoted to district sales manager in 1975 and became a regional sales manager in 1978 for the Southern Region.
 In 1981, he was appointed chemistry editor at Wadsworth's Brooks/Cole division. He was promoted to managing editor in 1984 and in 1985 became president of Brooks/Cole. In 1989, Mr. Needham was named to the board of directors of Wadsworth, Inc. Both Wadsworth and South- Western are divisions of the Thomson Corporation.
 A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, Mr. Needham holds a B.A. in English and History. He is a member of the executive council of the Higher Education Division, Association of American Publishers and chair of the association's Marketing Strategies Committee. He also is a member of the Governmental Relations Committee of the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business.
 Mr. Needham will report to Harold McGraw III, executive vice president, operations.
