MCDONNELL DOUGLAS ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT CHANGES
 FOR ITS COMMERICAL TRIJET PROGRAMS
LONG BEACH, Calif., Jan 14 /PRNewswire/ -- McDonnell Douglas (NYSE: MD) today announced executive management changes for its MD-11 and MD-12 commercial trijet programs, based at Douglas Aircraft Co. in Long Beach.
Allen C. Haggerty has been named vice president of product definition for the MD-11. He reports to Joe B. Pirkle, MD-11 vice president and general manager, and will be responsible for all design, product improvement, and production engineering and tooling support to the MD-11 family of transport aircraft.
Haggerty was formerly executive vice president and vice president- general manager of the MD-500 program at McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Co. He joined McDonnell Douglas in 1981 after 19 years with Boeing Helicopter Co.
He succeeds George G. Field, who has been appointed vice president- technical for the MD-12. In his new assignment, Field will be in charge of all design aspects of this newest Douglas trijet, now being offered to the world's airlines.
Field has been with Douglas Aircraft for 22 years, during which time he has held numerous key management positions in aircraft design and engineering. As general manager of MD-11 Flight Test and Product Definition, he was instrumental in the trijet's successful 10-month certification program that was completed in 1990.
David A. Little has been named vice president of MD-12 production operations. Previously, Little was vice president of production for the C-17 airlifter program and, before that, general manager of production.
Before joining Douglas Aircraft, Little had been vice president of Reliability, Maintainability, Quality, Test and Systems Safety at the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International. He is a fellow of the Institute for the Advancement of Engineering.
Field and Little report to Walter J. Orlowski, vice president- general manager of the MD-12 program.
