 MCA HOME VIDEO PRESIDENT ROB BLATTNER KILLED IN PLANE CRASH
 Universal City, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Rob Blattner, 40, president of MCA Home Video, was killed Oct. 31 in a plane crash that also took the life of unit publicist Dale Berliner, 32, and the pilot of the twin-engine plane.
 Blattner was en route back to Los Angeles after visiting a Utah film location. The plane had taken off from Canyonlands Airport near Moab, Utah, and crashed on approach to Walker Field in Grand Junction, Colo. The cause of the crash is unknown.
 "Rob was a superb human being and executive," said Tom Wertheimer, executive vice president, MCA Inc. "The entire company mourns his loss and our sympathy goes out to his family."
 Blattner entered the entertainment industry in 1980 as director of sales for Columbia Pictures Home Entertainment and in 1981 was appointed vice president and general manager. Blattner continued in the same capacity after the formation of the new RCA/Columbia Pictures joint venture in 1982 and was appointed president in June 1983. He joined MCA in 1989 as president of MCA Home Video and in 1990 was given the additional title of vice president, MCA Inc.
 Blattner was educated in Stamford, Conn., and received a bachelor of arts in economics from Harvard University in 1974. In 1976 he received a master of business administration from the Harvard Business School.
 Surviving Blattner are his wife, Pam, and their two daughters, Franci and Marcy. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. at Congregation Agudath Shalom, 301 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford, Conn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
