 MBIA PROMOTES RICHARD L. WEILL TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
 AND LOUIS G. LENZI TO GENERAL COUNSEL
 ARMONK, N.Y., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard L. Weill has been named executive vice president of MBIA, Inc. (NYSE: MBI), and Louis G. Lenzi has become general counsel of MBIA Corporation, it was announced today by David H. Elliott, president and chief executive officer. MBIA, Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary, MBIA Corporation, is the leading insurer of municipal bonds.
 Weill is responsible for MBIA's legal division, which includes the law, surveillance and structured finance departments. He joined the company in 1989 as general counsel and corporate secretary and will retain his position as general counsel of MBIA Inc.
 Before joining MBIA, Weill was a partner with Kutak Rock & Campbell. During his more than 20 years of service with the firms, he served as managing partner of its London, Omaha, Neb., and New York offices.
 Weill began his career as an associate with the New York law firm of Proskauer Rose Goetz & Mendelsohn in 1967. He joined Kutak Rock in Omaha two years later. During the 1970s, Weill acted as counsel to MBIA's predecessor, the Municipal Bond Insurance Association, and its managing agency, Municipal Issuers Service Corporation. Weill became a general partner of Municipal Issuers in 1983.
 A graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Weill was awarded an LL.B. degree from the New York University School of Law. He was a Root-Tilden Scholar and a member of the NYU Law Review.
 Lenzi will take over Weill's duties as general counsel of MBIA Corporation. Previously, Lenzi was deputy general counsel and assistant secretary of the company. He will continue to report to Weill.
 Lenzi joined MBIA's predecessor organization in 1984 as legal counsel to the research department and has been a member of the legal department since 1987. Before joining MBIA, he served as an associate with the law firm of Hawkins, Delafield & Wood, and was a state and local tax specialist with Coopers & Lybrand. Lenzi is a director of MBIA Corporation.
 Lenzi received a juris doctor degree from Boston College Law School, a bachelor of science degree from St. Peter's College and completed graduate study at the University of Chicago.
 MBIA, through its wholly owned subsidiary, MBIA Corporation, is the leading insurer of municipal bonds, including new issues and bonds traded in the secondary market. MBIA has a claims-paying rating of Triple-A by Moody's Investor's Service, Inc. and Standard & Poor's Corporation and municipal bonds insure by MBIA receive these ratings.
