 OFFERING AND A $100 MILLION DEBT ISSUE
 ARMONK, N.Y., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- MBIA Inc. (NYSE: MBI), the holding company of Municipal Bond Investors Assurance Corporation, today filed registration statements with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an offering of 1.8 million shares of common stock and for a $100 million debt issue.
 The equity offering will consist of 1,430,000 new shares offered by MBIA Inc. and 370,000 shares offered by Credit Local de France and will be made through underwriters led by Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation, New York, N.Y. and Lehman Brothers, New York, N.Y.
 The debt offering will be underwritten by Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and is expected to be rated "Aa2" by Moody's Investors Service and "AA+" by Standard & Poor's Corporation.
 MBIA Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary, MBIA Corporation, is the leading insurer of municipal bonds, including new issues and bonds traded in the secondary market. MBIA Corporation has claims paying ratings of Triple-A from Moody's Investors Service and Standard & Poor's Corporation and all municipal bonds insured by MBIA receive these ratings. MBIA Inc. is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (symbol: MBI).
 MBIA Inc.'s registration statements relating to the offering of its shares of common stock and relating to Notes to be sold in offerings have been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, but have not yet become effective.
