MAZDA INTRODUCES MIATA LIMITED EDITION; ONLY 1,500 MODELS WITH CLASSIC COLOR COMBINATION, SPORTS SUSPENSION

IRVINE, Calif., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Harkening back to a color combination inspired by sports cars of the '50s and '60s, Mazda is introducing the Miata Limited Edition this month.
A key attribute of this newest member of the Miata family is its exclusivity. Production of the black and red leather roadster is limited to just 1,500 units. In addition to its contrasting paint and interior, this special Miata is equipped with a unique sports suspension, silver BBS alloy wheels and an aero kit that includes a front air dam, body-color rear spoiler and rear skirt. A custom red vinyl tonneau cover is included, and a body-color detachable hard-top is optional.
The Miata Limited Edition comes standard with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a Nardi leather-wrapped shift knob, air conditioning, cruise control, power antenna, power windows, power mirrors and the new Mazda Sensory Sound stereo with compact disc player.
The sports suspension employs Bilstein shock absorbers and a new rear stabilizer bar. These changes increase roll stiffness for better cornering and improved stability while complementing the Miata's standard four-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension. The Miata Limited Edition comes standard with an antilock braking system and a limited-slip differential along with the Miata's four- wheel disc brakes and 116-hp 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine.
To add even more fun to top-down motoring, the Mazda Sensory Sound System comes standard on the Miata Limited Edition. This system uses five amplifiers that supply 130 watts of power to eight speakers, including headrest speakers, remote door tweeters and special bass transducers in the seats that improve low frequency response. Featuring AM/FM/cassette with compact disc player, the system offers two modes for optimum sound reproduction with the top up or down.
To enhance the ownership experience of the Miata Limited Edition, each buyer will receive a special keytag engraved with the sequence number of the vehicle. Miata Limited Edition owners will also receive a special two-volume set of books tracing the history and development of the Mazda Miata.
Mazda's popular Miata roadster first went on sale in the United States in July 1989 as a 1990 model. Since then, more than 250,000 have been sold worldwide, with nearly half of that total being sold in the United States.
The Miata has won numerous automotive awards since its introduction, including being named to Automobile magazine's "All- Stars" list for four consecutive years.
