MAZDA ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES IRVINE, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda Motor Corp. (MC)
today announced that Yoshinori Taura, president of Mazda Motor of America (MMA) and a member of MC's board of directors, has been promoted to the position of assistant to the senior managing director in charge of all sales and marketing activities outside of Japan.
Taura has served as president of MMA since the company was formed in 1988. A 31-year veteran of Mazda, Taura was a member of the project team assigned to study the feasibility of Mazda entering the U.S. market in 1969. During his career at Mazda, Taura has held a number of executive marketing positions in Europe, the middle East and Africa. Taura will be based at MC's headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan. Effective today, Taura will be replaced as president of MMA by Toshio Wakiya, general manager of MC's North American sales and marketing division. In addition, Wakiya joins MC's board of directors. Wakiya, who has been with Mazda for 28 years, has also served as senior vice president and deputy general manager of MMA. Wakiya will relocate to MMA headquarters in Irvine.
