MAYTAG CELEBRATES CENTENNIAL YEAR WITH NATIONWIDE SEARCH FOR OLDEST OPERATING ALUMINUM-TUB WASHER

NEWTON, Iowa, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate the centennial of its founding in 1893, Maytag Company is searching for the oldest operating Maytag aluminum-tub washer.
If consumer mail is any indication, there will be no shortage of entries -- Maytag still receives hundreds of letters each year from satisfied owners who used (and often, still use!) Maytag wringer washers manufactured as long ago as the 1920s. One such writer said, "Next to my husband, two children and two grandchildren, I love my old washer best ..."
Are you the proud user of a Maytag aluminum-tub, wringer washer that is operational and currently in home use? If so, you could win $1,000 and a new Maytag washer. To enter, write your name, address, phone number and your washer serial number on a 3 x 5 card and send it to Maytag Company, Dept. CW, One Dependability Square, Newton, Iowa 50208. Entries must be postmarked no later than June 15, 1993, and a winner will be chosen by July 15. Only the winner will be notified.
The earliest production date, determined by a valid serial number, will decide the winner, who will agree to sell the winning washer to Maytag Company for $1,000 cash and a new Maytag washer. (Serial numbers are stamped into the crown of the aluminum tub or on a plate attached to the tub.)
Taxes on the prize are assumed by the contest winner, and Maytag reserves the right to verify information submitted and to confirm ownership and actual home usage. No purchase is required to enter the contest, which is void where prohibited by law.
Employees and members of their immediate families of Maytag Corporation, its subsidiary and affiliate companies, its advertising agencies, all person who sell or service Maytag appliances and all museums and collectors of laundry equipment are not eligible to enter.
