 MAYTAG ANNOUNCES DIVIDEND
 CHICAGO, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Maytag Corporation's (NYSE: MYG)


board of directors declared a regular quarterly dividend during a meeting here today and announced that Leonard A. Hadley would be elevated to the post of president and chief executive officer in about two months.
 The dividend of 12.5 cents a share on the firm's common stock is payable March 14 to shareowners of record at the close of business Feb. 28.
 At this year's annual meeting of shareowners April 28, Chairman Daniel J. Krumm will turn the responsibilities of chief executive officer over to Hadley. Krumm, 65, has been Maytag's CEO since 1974. He will continue as the firm's chairman of the board for an undetermined period of time.
 In making the announcement, Krumm said, "I'm very pleased with the selection of Len Hadley as the next CEO. It demonstrates that this corporation has top-notch people with years of experience who can take on significant responsibilities.
 "Len Hadley has a marvelous background in the appliance business. He has worked directly for me during the past 12 years and has been a part of our top management team for a long time, so it's a logical progression."
 Hadley, 57, has served as president and chief operating officer of Maytag Corporation since February 1991, and he has been a member of the board of directors since 1985.
 As vice president of corporate planning from 1979 to mid-1986, Hadley was instrumental in the corporation's growth through the acquisitions of Hardwick Stove Co., Jenn-Air Co. and Magic Chef Inc. Hadley's career at Maytag spans more than 32 years and he has held top management responsibilities in many areas. He was named president of Maytag Company in 1986, and in 1989 he became executive vice president of Maytag Corporation and head of its appliance group.
 Maytag Corporation, headquartered in Newton, Iowa, consists of 12 companies with primary emphasis in home appliances, floor care products and vending equipment. The corporation has 22 manufacturing operations in seven countries and approximately 23,000 employees.
 Its home appliance brands include Maytag, Magic Chef, Hoover, Jenn-Air, Admiral, Hardwick and Norge. Dixie-Narco is the corporation's vending equipment manufacturer.
