 MAYNARD BEGINS THE SUPER BUNDLE BACKUP SOFTWARE PROMOTION;
 SIMPLIFIES CORPORATE STANDARDIZATION ON THE MAYNARD TAPE FORMAT
 LAKE MARY, Fla., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Maynard Electronics, Inc., an Archive(R) company, today announced an aggressive backup software promotion under which four MaynStream(R) software packages are included with the purchase of a MaynStream SCSI-based system for the cost of a single MaynStream for DOS system. Effective between April 1 and Sept. 30, 1992, the promotion represents a cost savings of up to $1,350 based on individual purchases of Maynard software under the Maynard(R) software upgrade program.
 "This program clearly is one of the best backup values in the market today and underscores Maynard's leadership position in the tape backup market," said Miles Walsh, vice president of marketing for Maynard. "The promotion, which signals the first shipment of MaynStream for Windows and MaynStream NLM software products to the market, gives Maynard a distinct advantage over other tape backup system manufactures in terms of the price/performance ratio of the super bundle solution compared to similar products."
 Under the terms of this promotion, users who purchase a MaynStream SCSI-based tape backup system ranging in capacity from 525MB to 5GB will receive MaynStream NLM, MaynStream for Windows and MaynStream for OS/2 software in addition to the standard MaynStream for DOS software at no additional cost. Maynard products qualified for this promotion include SCSI-based MaynStream cassette, quarter-inch cartridge, 4mm DAT and 8mm HS tape backup systems.
 The promotion is designed to make it easy for users and resellers to standardize on the Maynard Tape Format, recently licensed by Microsoft (A), as an industry standard, multi-platform tape backup format. In order to ensure compatability within the product line, all tapes created by any of the MaynStream software solutions included in the promotion can be read and restored by all MaynStream software including: MaynStream NLM, MaynStream for Windows, MaynStream for OS/2, MaynStream for DOS, Max Stream(R) for DOS, MaxStream(R) for Macintosh (A) computers and LANStream(TM) products. This compatibility provides a simple and convenient way to move files between different operating systems, while allowing the backup system to evolve with the network.
 MaynStream NLM software, which begins shipping in April, is a fully integrated NetWare (A) 386 server-based data management solution. Selected as the winner of "Editor's Choice" by Computer Technology Review, MaynStream NLM software is ideal for network backup. The MaynStream NLM software will perform backup operations for all servers and DOS-workstations operating on a Novell(A) internet without the use of additional software. Network administrators can control all network data management operations from either a workstation or filer server as well as develop a script to schedule backup operations after working hours when network traffic is low. MaynStream NLM software is available for use with Maynard systems purchased prior to April 1, 1992 through the Maynard software upgrade program for a suggested retail price of $795.
 MaynStream for Windows software, which begins shipping in April, is designed for use with Microsoft Windows products and is ideal for both individual PC and network users. Selected as a winner of the Windows Magazine "WinAwards" top 100 Windows products, MaynStream for Windows software also is the basis for the Maynard data backup services recently licensed by Microsoft for inclusion in the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. Through the use of the Microsoft Windows graphical user interface (GUI), backup operations for local drives, servers and remote workstations are accomplished with a simple click of a mouse. MaynStream for Windows software is designed to closely follow the interface used in Microsoft Windows products so that users will immediately find the application familiar. Features include an icon button bar for quick access to commonly used functions and a graphical hierarchical directory tree for quick selection of files for backup or restoration. The MaynStream for Windows product is available for drives purchased prior to April 1, 1992 through Maynard's upgrade program for a suggested retail price of $279.
 The MaynStream for OS/2 software package provides information storage and retrieval by providing consistent handling of DOS File Allocation Tables (FAT) and High Performance Files Systems (HPFS). MaynStream for OS/2 software supports both OS/2 1.1 and 1.2 Standard and Extended Editions as well as LAN Manager and LAN Server. Greatly improved restore speeds using Maynard's Fast File Restore feature, disk grooming and unattended backup capabilities are some features of MaynStream for OS/2 software. MaynStream for OS/2 software is available for drives purchased prior to April 1, 1992 through the Maynard software upgrade program for suggested retail price of $279.
