MAYFLOWER HOTEL RE-ENACTS ORIGINAL THANKSGIVING FEAST
PLYMOUTH, Mich., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- "1492" may be the hottest

number in motion picture releases this season, but 1620 will be the celebrated number at the Mayflower Hotel.
1620 is significant for two reasons -- 1620 was the year the Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving in Plymouth, Mass., and 1,620 is the approximate number of turkey dinners the Mayflower Hotel will serve at its Authentic Recreation of The First Thanksgiving Feast on Nov. 26 in the Mayflower Meeting House.
The feast is featured every year. Originally started in 1927 by Patriarch, Ralph Lorenz, the feast is an authentic recreation of the first Thanksgiving meal, featuring the original foods that the Pilgrims enjoyed.
"No detail has been overlooked," Creon Smith, general manager, said. "Ralph Lorenz researched this meal right down to Priscilla Mullens' Cranberry Torte." Lorenz stumbled upon the recipe during one of his many sojourns to the Plymouth Plantation.
The original recipe appeared on a parchment paper tied together with Indian hemp twine, signed by Priscilla Mullens. The entire feast is served by a costumed wait staff to continue the authentic feel and theme.
The Recreation Feast has proved so popular that the Mayflower now offers the special "theme" dinner 365 days a year to large groups and parties with reservations.
Who does the feast appeal to? "Our groups range from students to senior citizens, but on Thanksgiving Day, everyone wants a chance to be a Pilgrim and sample the foods their ancestors enjoyed," said Catering Sales Manager Joanne LaForest.
Reservations for Thanksgiving Day or group theme dinners can be made by calling 313-453-1620.
