MAY D & F POST OFFICE ANNOUNCES CLOSING

DENVER, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Post Office located in the basement of the old May D & F building, downtown Denver, will close its doors for the last time on July 14.
Customers who have been doing postal business at the May D & F location will be temporarily served from a mobile post office unit called the Postal Eagle Van, which will be parked at the corner of 16th Street and Glenarm Place. Hours of operation for the Postal Eagle Van will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Postage meter customers with questions about setting their meters are encouraged to contact the Downtown Station at 303-296-2920.
A new Postal Business Store will open later this year in the vicinity of the 16th Street Mall. "We don't have an exact opening date for the Postal Business Store just yet," said Denver Postmaster Michael Flores. "But design is underway and we are anticipating a late September opening," he added.
The Postal Business Store is a new and innovative concept in postal services. The store will be configured with two areas where transactions will occur. The first will be similar to a convenience store where philatelic and packaging products may be purchased from a clerk in that location. The second area will be a full service retail window. At this location, window clerks will conduct normal post office window operations including money order sales, weighing and rating, mail acceptance, special services, and sales of stamps, envelopes and postal cards.
When opened, the hours of operation of the Postal Business Store will be the same as all other Denver city post offices: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
