 MAXXAM'S PIERNO, WADE TO SUCCEED
 PERRY, MOORE AT KAISER ALUMINUM
 HOUSTON, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- MAXXAM Inc. (AMEX: MXM) announced that Anthony R. Pierno, its Senior Vice President and General Counsel, and Byron L. Wade, its Vice President, Secretary, and Deputy General Counsel, will assume additional, similar positions at Kaiser Aluminum Corporation, MAXXAM's 87.3-percent-owned subsidiary.
 Pierno, 59, will assume the additional position of Vice President and General Counsel at Kaiser as a result of David L. Perry's decision to resign from those offices and retire as a Kaiser employee effective Dec. 31, 1991. Wade, 44, will take on additional responsibilities as Vice President and Secretary at Kaiser when John A. Moore retires from those offices effective Jan. 31, 1992.
 Pierno has served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of MAXXAM since February 1989 and as Vice President and General Counsel of The Pacific Lumber Co., a wholly owned subsidiary, since May 1989. Prior to that, he was a partner in the law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro. He previously served as the Commissioner of Corporations of the State of California.
 Wade has served as Vice President, Secretary, and Deputy General Counsel of MAXXAM since May 1990. Prior to that, he was Secretary (1988-90), Assistant Secretary (1987-88), and Assistant General Counsel (1987-90). Wade joined MCO Resources Inc., a publicly traded oil and gas company which was majority owned by MAXXAM, in 1980 and served as Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel from 1983 until 1987.
 Perry, 51, who joined Kaiser in 1969, was elected Vice President and General Counsel of Kaiser in January 1984.
 Moore, 60, who joined Kaiser in 1965, was elected Vice President and Secretary in January 1984 and continues to serve as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel until his retirement.
