MAXUS COMPLETES GAS DELINEATION WELL IN INDONESIA

DALLAS, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxus Energy Corporation's (NYSE: MXS) subsidiary, Maxus Southeast Sumatra, Inc., has drilled a successful gas delineation well in Pertamina's Southeast Sumatra production-sharing contract area of Indonesia, it was announced today. Pertamina is the state oil company of Indonesia.
The Banuwati-3 delineation well tested 26.3 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfpd) from 20 feet of perforations in an upper zone through a 56/64-inch choke with flowing tubing pressure of 1,419 pounds per square inch. The well is located in 71 feet of water about 86 miles north of Jakarta in the Java Sea. It was drilled to a total depth of 8,852 feet and encountered 109 net feet of pay in three zones over a gross interval of 169 feet in the Talang Akar formation.
This delineation well is approximately one mile southeast of the Banuwati-2 new field discovery well, which flowed 13 mmcfpd from the same interval. Further delineation of the area is planned.
Maxus is the operator and owns 56 percent of the contractors' interests. The other interests in the contract are held by Inpex, Repsol, Itochu, Deminex, Warrior Oil Co., Oryx and TCR.
