MAXIM GROUP OPENS NEW $1.7 MILLION NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER

 MARIETTA, Ga., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Maxim Group Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: MAXM, MAXMW), a leading franchisor of retail floor coverings, today announced the opening of a newly renovated $1.7 million, 50,000-square-foot national distribution center and corporate headquarters in Marietta.
 "Purchased in August of 1993, the newly renovated facility has the capacity to hold 2,000 carpet rolls and will supply specialty flooring products to the company's 300 franchise locations in 33 states and Canada," explained A.J. Nassar, president and chief executive officer of Maxim. "Our relationships with major floor covering manufacturers provide our 175 franchisees with superior buying power, and now the distribution center gives us the ability to purchase and supply specialty floor covering products at lower prices compared to individual dealers.
 "By consolidating our distribution center, headquarters and retail store under one roof, we are adding tremendous service capacity to our members and at the same time keeping our incremental fixed costs low," added Nassar.
 In addition to housing the distribution facility, there will be a retail outlet, serving residents of the immediate geographic area and a state-of-the-art audio/video production facility. The retail store is the company's first retail joint venture.
 Funds for the renovation and purchase of inventories were supplied from the company's October 1993 initial public offering.
 Based in Marietta, The Maxim Group is the only publicly traded full- service franchisor for retail floor coverings in North America. In addition to providing floor covering products directly from the manufacturer, the company provides merchandising programs including advertising/marketing and consultation in general administration and human resource development.
