 MASSACHUSETTS MUTUAL LIFE INSURANCE NAMES WENDLANDT SENIOR VP,
 CORPORATE FINANCIAL OPERATIONS; EXPECTS TO REPORT RECORD EARNINGS
 SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, the nation's 12th-largest life insurance company, announced the appointment of Gary E. Wendlandt, 41, to the position of senior vice president, corporate financial operations. He currently serves as head of the company's Securities Investment Division. Wendlandt replaces James L. Wertheimer, 47, former chief financial officer, who has resigned to pursue other interests.
 Separately, the company reported that it expects to announce record earnings from operations and record additions to surplus for the year 1991.
 A $27.5 billion company, MassMutual is among the 100 largest U.S. businesses. Established in 1851, MassMutual is a leading provider of individual life products, employee life, health and pension benefits and investment services.
