 MARYSVILLE BRANCH ACQUIRED BY FARMERS
 BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The Farmers Banking


Company, N.A., Lakeview, today announced signing a definitive agreement to purchase certain assets and assume the liabilities of the Marysville, Ohio Branch of Savings of America, FSB, located at 1055 W. Fifth St., announced R.E. Coffman, Jr., president and chief executive officer.
 "With this banking center, which approximates $25 million, we will be entering the Marysville and Union County markets for the first time, which is an area experiencing excellent growth," stated Coffman. Farmers has also acquired land at the intersections of Routes 33 and 36 to accommodate further expansion.
 All employees of the Savings of America office will be retained by Farmers. As a result of this association, The Farmers Banking Company will have seven banking centers located in Logan and Union Counties and assets totaling $118 million.
 The Farmers Banking Company is an affiliate of Mid Am, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIAM), a financial services holding company headquartered in Bowling Green, Ohio. Other Mid Am, Inc. affiliates include Mid American National Bank & Trust Company, Bowling Green; First National Bank Northwest Ohio, Bryan; The Citizens Loan & Building Company, Lima; and Mid Am Information Services, Inc., the company's data processing affiliate.
 Savings of America is a division of Home Savings of America, the nation's largest savings institution with assets of more than $47 billion and deposits of more than $37 billion.
 In March of this year Farmers and Citizens announced their decision to combine the two institutions into a national bank. This combination, plus the acquisition of the Home Savings of America office, will create a $245 million commercial banking affiliate of Mid Am, Inc. The acquisition of the Marysville office is subject to the approval of various regulatory authorities. It is anticipated the transaction will be completed in the second half of 1992.
