ST BOSWELLS February 22 Primestock: There were 177 clean cattle, 77 OTM cattle and 1,513 prime hoggs and 785 ewes forward. Bullocks (83) averaged 167.7p per kg (+2.9p on the week) and sold to 195p gross pounds 1298 from Lurdenlaw Heifers (87) averaged 169.3p per kg, (-0.2p on the week), and sold to 192p gross pounds 1131 from Mosstower.

The 7 young bulls averaged 145.8p per kg, -4.6p on the week, and sold to 159p gross pounds 1283 from Threeburnford The 77 beef type OTM cattle averaged 112.7p per kg, and sold to 152p gross pounds 1467 from Mosstower.

The 1,513 prime hoggs averaged 188.7p per kg,( no change on the week) and sold to pounds 101 a head from ATC Dodds, Bonjedward Mill and 207p per kg from Seafield House, Lerwick & Sunwick Farms. The 785 ewes averaged pounds 67.84 (+pounds 3.80 on the week) and sold to pounds 142 from John Connell, Wantonwalls, Lauder.

Prime hoggs sold to similar rates as previous week and dearer than the end of the previous week selling to pounds 101 for Suffolks from ATC Dodds, Bonjedward Mill, Jedburgh and 207p per kg for a pen of Suffolks from GB & AM Anderson, Seafield House, Lerwick & Sunwick Farm Ltd.

Another good show of cast ewes & rams were forward with all types sharper, particularly hill & horned ewes, peaking at pounds 142 for 8 Texels from John Connell, Wantonwalls, Lauder.

Many buyers were present, all classes easy to sell with vendors well pleased.
