MARTIN MARIETTA TO FOREGO MARS OBSERVER ON-ORBIT PERFORMANCE FEE

 BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Martin Marietta Corporation (NYSE: ML) today notified NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory it is foregoing its claim to the on-orbit performance fee for the Mars Observer spacecraft, and is returning all such advance fee payments received to date. The corporation said this action was appropriate in light of the unsuccessful mission.
