MARTIN LIPTON ON HOW TO BEAT POLAND.

FRONT FOOT AGAIN Against Montenegro, England took a grip early on. They need to follow the same pattern - fearless on the ball, fearsome in winning it back. If the Poles don't fancy it, so much the better.

WAYNE THE MAIN MAN Wayne Rooney has scored in all his five qualifiers this campaign, six goals in all. He clearly enjoyed playing with Daniel Sturridge on Friday. Hodgson will want more of the same.

RIGHT IS RIGHT Andros Townsend was thrilling on Friday and, while Kyle Walker is missing, the Spurs winger is operating down Poland's weaker side. Look at the joy James Milner got on that flank in Warsaw.

MAKE WEMBLEY ROAR Forget the 20,000 Poles inside. There will be 70,000 England fans, all desperate to play their part. If England can feed off that atmosphere and be galvanised, their quality should be enough to get the job done.
