MARTECH USA ANNOUNCES $54-MILLION CONTRACT TO BUILD MILITARY HOUSING

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Martech USA Inc. (NYSE: MUS) announced today it has been awarded a cost-plus contract worth $54 million to construct military housing on Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks. This is the largest single contract ever awarded Martech USA.
The contract requires Martech USA to design and build 366 housing units and associated roads, recreational areas, water and sewer systems on 73 acres of land. Design for the project has begun, and construction is due to begin in June. The project is scheduled for completion in September 1994.
This project is a strategic part of the expanded mission of Eielson Air Force Base, which has assumed military training duties from the now- defunct Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. The project has been heralded by Walter J. Hickel, governor of the State of Alaska, and other state and federal officials for its importance to U.S. defense planning and to the economy of Alaska.
The contract was awarded to Martech USA by HEBL Inc., a Fairbanks company and owner of the project. HEBL will lease the housing units to the Air Force upon completion. Directing the project is Hal Dreyer, general manager of Martech's Alaska Marine and Construction Division.
Martech USA Inc. provides a comprehensive range of environmental remediation as well as specialized marine and construction services worldwide.
