 ELECTED IBM VICE PRESIDENTS
 ARMONK, N.Y., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The IBM (NYSE: IBM) board of directors has elected Marshall C. Phelps Jr. and Douglas C. Worth IBM vice presidents.
 Phelps has been named IBM vice president, commercial and industry relations. He joined IBM in 1970 and held a number of legal positions in various IBM divisions and at corporate headquarters. In 1980, Phelps served as an administrative assistant to the IBM chairman of the board, and in 1983 he was named managing attorney, corporate headquarters. In 1984, he was named vice president, management services, Asia/Pacific Group, and in 1986 he was named vice president, business and commercial development, within the same organization. In 1987, Phelps was named IBM director, governmental programs.
 Worth has been named IBM vice president, governmental programs. He joined IBM as a sales trainee in 1961. He has held marketing, personnel and product management positions in IBM's international operations and at corporate headquarters. In 1979, he was named managing director, IBM
Portugal, IBM World Trade Europe/Middle East/Africa Corporation. In


1981, Worth was named program director, executive compensation, corporate personnel staff, and in 1982 he was named director, public affairs, corporate governmental programs staff. In 1986, he was named IBM director, public affairs, within the same organization.
