MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL NAMES KEY EXECUTIVES IN FINANCE AND LAW DEPARTMENTS

 WASHINGTON, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) today announced two senior management appointments in the company's finance and law departments. The appointments are a result of the division of Marriott Corporation into two separate companies in October 1993.
 Michael A. Stein has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Stephen A. West has been appointed senior vice president and general counsel for Marriott International. Stein and West report to J.W. Marriott Jr., chairman and president of Marriott International.
 Stein, 43, is responsible for the company's treasury, tax, internal audit, controllership and financial planning functions. He joined Marriott in 1989 as vice president-finance and chief accounting officer and subsequently assumed responsibility for the company's financial analysis, planning and internal audit functions. In 1991, he was elected senior vice president-finance and corporate controller.
 Prior to joining Marriott, Stein was a partner with Arthur Andersen & Co., with which he was associated for 18 years.
 A certified public accountant, Stein earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland. He resides with his wife and three children in Potomac, Md.
 West, 58, is responsible for all of the company's legal affairs and the department of the corporate secretary. He joined Marriott in 1968, was appointed assistant general counsel in 1971, associate general counsel in 1974, vice president in 1977 and named vice president and deputy general counsel in 1987.
 Prior to joining Marriott, West was with Jennings, Strouss, Salmon & Trask in Washington. Previously, he was a partner with Marr, Wilkins & Cannon in Salt Lake City.
 West received his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from the University of Utah. He and his wife have three children and reside in Bethesda, Md.
