MARINE HARVEST INTERNATIONAL, INC. REPORTS SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN SECOND QUARTER RESULTS

 WOODBRIDGE, N.J., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Marine Harvest International, Inc. (AMEX: MHI) today reported earnings of $1.5 million or $.09 per share on sales of $29.6 million for the second quarter ended March 31, 1993. In the second quarter of 1992, the company had a net loss of $0.4 million or a loss of $.05 a share on sales of $24.0 million.
 For the six months ended March 31, 1993, the company reported that net income rose to $3.1 million (or $0.23 per share) on sales of $64.0 million, compared to a net loss of $0.5 million (or a loss or $.07 per share) on sales of $43.3 million.
 John A. Mistretta, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "These results were achieved during a period of reduced winter time consumption of both salmon and shrimp, which is normally our weakest quarter of the fiscal year. The underlying strength of our salmon operations bodes well for the future, and we anticipate reporting significantly improved results through the balances of our fiscal year."
