MARCUS NAMED PRESIDENT OF MGM PICTURES

 SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael E. Marcus has been named President of MGM Pictures Inc., it was announced today by Frank G. Mancuso, chairman and chief executive officer of Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer Inc.
 "I am delighted that Mike will be joining the MGM family. His experience and exceptional relationships with top talent will be key elements in our rebuilding of MGM," Mancuso stated. "Mike has the ability to motivate people on his team and move quickly on projects, which will make MGM Pictures a strong competitor in the marketplace."
 Marcus, 48, started his career with Creative Management Associates, and later was in partnership with Michael Levy in various talent agencies before joining CAA in 1981.
 In addition to supervising the New Technology Department of CAA, his client roster includes a cross section of major performers, directors and writers.

 His appointment follows the naming of John Calley earlier this week as president of United Artists Pictures under the overall Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer Inc. banner. Both studios will distribute films through MGM/UA Worldwide Distribution Network.
 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. is involved in the worldwide production and distribution of motion pictures and television programs.
