MARC SHAIMAN ARRANGING THE MUSIC FOR MGM'S 'THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! III,' TO BE PERFORMED BY THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL ORCHESTRA

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Renowned film arranger and composer Marc Shaiman is creating special arrangements for MGM's spirited tribute to its musical Golden Age, "That's Entertainment! III." In addition to the music for the main and end titles, he is also arranging an overture and grand finale for the film. Making its feature film debut, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by Maestro John Mauceri, will be performing Shaiman's arrangements for the film.
One of the most sought after arranger/composers of our time, Shaiman has scored such diverse films as "Heart and Souls," "Sleepless in Seattle," "Life With Mikey," "A Few Good Men," "Mr. Saturday Night," "Sister Act," The Addams Family," "City Slickers," and "Misery." In addition, he was Grammy-nominated for his arrangement of "It Had to Be You," from "When Harry Met Sally." His upcoming film credits include "North," "Sister Act 2" and "Addams Family Values." Nominated for an Emmy for his work on "Saturday Night Live," Shaiman also has a long list of television credits, including all of Billy Crystal's famed production numbers which have opened the Academy Awards since 1989.
The acclaimed Hollywood Bowl Orchestra has performed music from almost all of the great stage and screen musicals in concerts at their historic Los Angeles venue. They have also recorded six albums, including the highly successful concert version of "The King and I," starring Julie Andrews and Ben Kingsley. Originally founded in 1945, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra was disbanded two years later to be replaced by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. It was more than 43 years before the orchestra was re-established in 1991, under the direction of Mauceri.
Scheduled for release in 1994, "That's Entertainment! III" is produced, directed and edited by Bud Friedgen and Michael J. Sheridan and executive produced by Peter Fitzgerald. Legendary stars June Allyson, Cyd Charisse, Lena Horne, Howard Keel, Gene Kelly, Ann Miller, Debbie Reynolds, Mickey Rooney and Esther Williams are segment hosts.
