MARATHON GROUP DRILLS SUCCESSFUL DELINEATION TO SOUTH PASS 87 DISCOVERY
DALLAS, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by OKC Limited Partnership:
 To All Unitholders:
The following information was released by Marathon, the operator of South Pass Block 87. This release was made after careful evaluation and consideration by Marathon and all of the co-lessees.
The delay in releasing information regarding the South Pass Block 87 Field was as a result of a confidential "tight hole" agreement among the co-lessees.
 The release reads as follows:
HOUSTON, Nov. 22 -- Marathon Oil Company, as operator for a group comprised of Marathon, Amerada Hess Corporation and OKC Limited Partnership, announced today that it has successfully drilled a delineation well on the group's South Pass 87 Field. The well is located in the Gulf of Mexico 38 miles south of Venice, La., in 370 feet of water.
Earlier this year, the South Pass 87 No. 1 discovery well was plugged and abandoned due to mechanical problems after encountering 37 feet of gas and condensate pay.
The delineation well, South Pass 87 No. 2, was drilled to a total depth of 16,715 feet from a surface location 2,300 feet southwest of the discovery well. The well encountered 82 feet of oil and gas pay and established a proven hydrocarbon column extending over 600 feet of structural interval. Neither well was tested.
The Marathon Group will drill a second delineation well (No. 3) through a template set at the South Pass 87 No. 2 location. The No. 3 well will be drilled to a bottom hole location 4,500 feet west and 800 feet downdip of the No. 1 discovery well.
The South Pass 87 Field is two miles west of the South Pass 89 Field where Marathon, as operator and its partners will set the South Pass 86 "C" Platform in early 1992. Marathon expects production from this platform to eventually peak at more than 20,000 barrels of liquid hydrocarbons per day. Gas facilities have been designed to initially handle up to 100 million cubic feet per day.
South Pass 87 was acquired in 1985 for a gross bonus of $640,000. Each of the working interest partners--Marathon, Amerada Hess and OKC-- have a one-third interest in the block.
